SUPREMUS This sequence is part of my last project, Supremus, the early XX century manifest by which Russian suprematists decide to abandon any representation of nature and agree to seek through black & white as well as through geometrics forms the concept of nothing. Surprisingly, one century later, the latest astronomical theories bring that concept of nothing into the nature itself (black holes and dark matter). My idea was to inspire from “Black square”, the iconic painting from Kazimir Malevich, and substitute the black take for pictures from an astronomical observatory and, from there play with geometry as a puzzle. Curiously, one of Malevich texts also took me to the cosmos and the human nature itself. It’s interesting to see that after 100 years, “Black square” keeps generating debate and controversy, as if society would have stopped at that point in history El craneo del hombre también es el cosmos, 2020.
